Components of this project include TB/HIV cross-training of health staff, TB prevalence surveys in high risk populations, and research for behavior change communication and development of information, education and communication material (IEC). Children look out at the Bassac floodIn 2003, the project's activities will extend to a second site in Battambang province. The objective of the new project is to test the feasibility of providing preventive drug therapy (INH) to HIV-infected individuals for whom active TB has been ruled out. The specific aims will be to provide TB testing/screening to HIV-infected individuals in rural and urban sites through Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) Centers; INH prevention therapy to those without active disease (plus opportunistic infection therapy); and HIV counseling and testing to TB patients at risk.
