Debasish Chattopadhyay's Structural Biology Laboratory

Technical Capabilities, Resources, & Research Opportunities

Technical
Capabilities
of the Lab

Molecular biology, Recombinant protein expression, Large scale protein purification, Biochemical and enzymogical studies of proteins, Protein crystallization, Protein crystal structure analysis, Molecular modelling and Structure-based drug design.

Resources

The research group presently occupies three labs, with attached cold rooms. The group, as a member of the UAB's Center for Biophysical Sciences and Engineering (CBSE), has full access to the X-ray diffraction and computation core facility currently located in the MCLM building. The X-ray laboratory houses two R-AXIS IV, one R-AXISII, one McScience Dual Image Plate, one HiStar and one CCD for X-ray data collection. All data collection stations are equipped with low temperature device. CBSE is also part of a consortium currently building a dedicated beamline at the synchrotron facility at Advanced Photon Source, ANL, Illinois. Our laboratories are fully equipped for conducting protein expression, purification and crystallization experiments.

Research
Opportunities

We are in search of motivated and dedicated researchers committed to structural biology.
