Clinical Activities

The UAB Travelers Health Clinic provides pre-travel medical preparation to overseas travelers as well as consultation for ill patients with possible tropical or parasitic disease. Divisional clinical faculty also attend on the Infectious Diseases Consult Service.

Opportunities exist for residents to have short-term clinical or research electives in Africa, Asia, or South America. These may be done independently, or in conjunction with ongoing Divisional field studies. These activities include studies of parasitic infection, HIV/AIDS, and vaccine-oriented clinical and immunologic studies.
