The U.S. News & World Report Magazine recently released its July issue with a listing of America’s Best Hospitals.  The nation’s top 50 hospitals in 16 categories evaluated at 4,861 US Hospitals are listed.  UAB Hospital was the only hospital in Alabama (or Mississippi) to rank high enough in even one specialty to make the magazine’s “Best Hospital” list.

US_News_Badge09_jpgEight UAB Hospital specialty programs are among the nation’s top 50 and six out of the eight are affiliated with the Department of Medicine.  The 6 specialties from the DOM are :

  • Rheumatology ranked 8th (18th consecutive year ranked)
  • Kidney disorders ranked 13th
  • Geriatrics ranked 16th
  • Respiratory disorders ranked 21st
  • Cancer ranked 23rd
  • Heart & Heart Surgery ranked 27th

These rankings validate the quality of care we provide to our patients.  It is also a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our faculty.  Thank you for all you do to make our Department and institution successful.
