Each year, the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Women’s Center annually honors outstanding women for their contributions to the academic community with several awards.  Individuals selected to receive one of these awards are chosen for their exemplary service in mentoring other women or for having taken a courageous stance, for overcoming adversity to achieve a goal or having provided significant service to other women.

One of the awards given out each year at the Outstanding Women at UAB Awards Ceremony is the Susan D. Marchase Annual Outstanding Woman Administrator Award sponsored by the Department of Medicine.  Sue was known by many as a dedicated professional, trusted friend and mentor and a respected colleague for her sense of honesty and integrity during her years as an employee in the Department of Medicine.  Successful candidates for this award shall be judged to have demonstrated throughout their careers qualities of leadership, vision, courage, dedication and commitment to the University and to the cause of the advancement of women at UAB and in the community.
